Josh Grove Nabs One at Nashville SS!

Josh Grove in the Grove's Towing 2 truck has taken to the OSRL like a duck to water, Bush to War, or a Fat Kid to Cake! With his truck win last week, Josh has scored victories in all 3 series here at the OSRL in just his rookie season! The Racin Grafix Truck Series has seen no less than 25 trucks on any given night, so finding victory lane in this series can be a tough chore. You need a fast truck of course, but patience and luck play a big role in how well you finish. But Josh made sure he had a good pit stall, by laying down the fastest lap in qualifying to start P1.

With the top 3 drivers in points starting from the rear of the field each week, it would mean the 17 of Doug Gunning, 26 of Keith Joseph and 580 of Robert St-Pierre would have their work cut out for them if they wanted to stay up in the points. Early series points leader John VanVourellis in the 87 truck knows all too well about the luck you can have starting from the back after a disappointing 20th place run at Dover the week before. The 02 of Ricky Lee, 6 of Robert Vining, 87 of John VanVourellis, and the 09 of Steve Allen would round out the top 5 starters this week.

When the race got underway, it wouldn't be long before some of the drivers noticed the lack of banking at this high speed concrete oval that ate tires and trucks all night long. No less than 9 drivers had trouble throughout the night, leading to a record setting 16 cautions for 57 laps, which also lead to no less than 10 different leaders for 14 lead changes throughout the night. Tires, Tires, Tires were the norm on just about every caution flag. The ramaining 16 drivers all finished on the lead lap.

As the laps wound down, the racing got tight with the front 4 stretching it out a bit over 5th place, until a late race caution split the field between staying out and getting tires. On the restart with 10 to go, Josh was out front, with the 02 of Ricky Lee, 24 of Shayne Carr, 87 of John VanVourellis and a slew of trucks battling for 5th spot down the backstretch! When all the dust settled, the final order at the flag would be the 02 of Josh Grove taking his first win of the season in the truck series, followed by the 02 of Ricky Lee in 2nd, the 87 of John Van Vourellis in 3rd, the 24 of Shayne Carr coming home 4th and the 52 of Guy Woodring rounding out the top 5 in his first race back this season.

While there were way too many cautions, this is one tough track to race on, and the drivers seemed to realize about half way through the race how they would need to drive the track to survive. With Talledaga just around the corner, the trucks get ready for Superspeedway action at the longest track on the schedule.

With his win at Nashville, Josh Groves has a 6 point lead over 87 John VanVourellis going into week 4. But with the top 3 not qualifying at Daga, it's anyones ball game this early in the season.
